Basketball Game Preview: Angleton Wildcats vs. Texas City Stingarees

The Angleton Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Texas City Stingarees at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Angleton will be strutting in after a win while Texas City will be coming in after a defeat.

Angleton took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Friendswood by a score of 50-40. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 364th, while the Mustangs are ranked 42nd).

Meanwhile, Texas City suffered their closest loss since December 27, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Santa Fe by a score of 47-45.

The win got Angleton back to even at 13-13. As for Texas City, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Angleton, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-46 loss to Texas City when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Angleton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
