Baseball Recap: Lakeside Comes Up Short

Lakeside had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it eight. They came up short against the Pymatuning Valley Lakers, falling 10-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Dragons were not able to get on the board.

Lakeside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matt Wagner, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Pymatuning Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2. Considering they have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Pymatuning Valley's side, Ryan Croston was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Croston is becoming a predictor of the Lakers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Croston, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Lakeside will host Conneaut at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Dragons are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Pymatuning Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against Mathews at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
