Volleyball Game Preview: Shafter Generals vs. McFarland Cougars

The Shafter Generals are taking a road trip to take on the McFarland Cougars at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Shafter has 23 straight wins, McFarland has 15 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Tuesday, Shafter made easy work of Taft and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Shafter never let Taft on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-22, 25-11.

Meanwhile, McFarland lost 3-0 to Chavez on Tuesday.

Shafter will have to contain Sophie Cruz as she made an impact in McFarland's last game. She had five digs and three aces.

McFarland's loss dropped their record down to 3-25-1. As for Shafter, their win bumped their record up to 27-1.

Shafter took their victory against McFarland when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Generals since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
