Baseball Game Preview: Buckley Griffins vs. Oakwood Owls

The Buckley Griffins will venture away from home to challenge the Oakwood Owls at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Buckley is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Heritage Christian just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors.

Spencer Peterson put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Peterson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Peterson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Max Singer, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Oren Rubin also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oakwood). They put the hurt on Providence with a sharp 19-7 victory on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Oakwood's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Buckley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4-1.

Buckley suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Oakwood when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Griffins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
