The Marion Local Flyers will head out to take on the Memorial Roughriders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Marion Local is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Marion Local was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against National Trail on Friday. The Flyers blew past the Blazers 14-3. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Flyers considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

The team relied heavily on Hayden Poeppelman, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Heitkamp, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Memorial ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Kenton 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Roughriders in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

Marion Local has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Memorial, their record is now 11-6.

Marion Local took their win against Memorial in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-3 score. Will the Flyers repeat their success, or do the Roughriders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
