Football Recap: Morton Falls to Newton County in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Morton had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 32-21 to the Newton County Cougars. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 32-13 to the Cougars when the teams met back in September of 2020, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jaylin Stowers threw for 111 yards on seven of 21 attempts.

Among those leading the charge was Byron Pruitt, who rushed for 51 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries.

Newton County has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Morton will host West Lauderdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Newton County, they will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Raleigh at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
