Baseball Recap: Buckingham Charter Takes a Loss

Buckingham Charter fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Foresthill on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildfires by a score of 8-7. The Knights just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Richard Ackman was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Buckingham Charter's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-8 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Joe Inman was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Caleb Wright was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Buckingham Charter's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Foresthill, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.

While Buckingham Charter had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
