Softball Recap: 15 Straight Home Wins for St. Helens

St. Helens faced Thurston in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. St. Helens came out on top against Thurston by a score of 5-1.

Eme Curaming spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addy Ellis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Dakota Drake, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

St. Helens hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive matches.

St. Helens' win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Thurston, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Helens will square off against Stayton at 4:30 p.m. on April 3. As for Thurston, they will take on West Albany at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
