Softball Recap: Millington Central Trojans vs. Northpoint Christian Trojans
Millington Central won the last time they faced Northpoint Christian, and things went their way on Friday too. The Millington Central Trojans walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Northpoint Christian Trojans. The win made it back-to-back victories for Millington Central.
Rilee Ervin was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Grace Bell, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
On Northpoint Christian's side, Trinity Garvin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up six earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Garvin has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings every time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Hannah Bostain was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Macie Dever-Boaz, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Even though they lost, Northpoint Christian didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with ten strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millington Central only tossed five.
Millington Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Northpoint Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
