Softball Preview: Prairie Grove Tigers vs. Lincoln Wolves
Prairie Grove is 1-9 against Lincoln since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Wolves at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Prairie Grove turned things around against Green Forest on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Green Forest a 23-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what Prairie Grove needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Angelina Petersen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Prairie Grove let Jill Emerson and Ivey Sparkman run wild. Emerson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Sparkman scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Kayte Struve was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Prairie Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lincoln made easy work of Providence Academy on Thursday and carried off a 7-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolves.
The victory got Lincoln back to even at 7-7. As for Prairie Grove, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
