Softball Game Preview: Immanuel Eagles vs. Exeter Monarchs

The Immanuel Eagles will head out to face off against the Exeter Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Immanuel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Exeter will be up against a hot Immanuel squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Washington Union on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Amanda Herrera was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. Herrera was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Watson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Ellyann Thomas also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Immanuel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Exeter came up short against Sierra Pacific on Friday and fell 8-5.

Exeter's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Immanuel, their record now sits at 13-5-2.

Immanuel skirted past Exeter 4-2 in their previous meeting on April 4th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
