Baseball Recap: George Rogers Clark Comes Up Short

George Rogers Clark suffered their closest loss since April 3rd on Friday. They fell just short of the Lexington Catholic Knights by a score of 6-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 last Sunday.

George Rogers Clark got a good showing from Myles Frick, who didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Furthermore, Frick didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April.

On the hitting side, George Rogers Clark saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Wheeler, who went 2-for-4 with one run. Another was Kamden McAlpin, who earned two RBI and one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for George Rogers Clark and nudges their season record down to 20-11. As for Lexington Catholic, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-7-1.

George Rogers Clark and Lexington Catholic should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Cardinals will face off against Bishop Brossart at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (47 vs. 132). Meanwhile, Lexington Catholic (ranked 13th) will meet Bryan Station (ranked 95th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
