Flag Football Recap: Johnson Comes Up Short on the Road Against Claxton

Johnson kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They and the Claxton Tigers were almost perfectly matched up, but the Atomsmashers suffered a 7-6 defeat. The Atomsmashers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Even if they lost, Johnson's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In that department, Zaniyah Ingram was the leader with two. Another thorn in Claxton's side was Rihanna Richey, who made seven total tackles and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception.

Coincidentally, Johnson and Claxton will both be playing South Effingham the next time they take the field. The Atomsmashers will head out to face the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Tigers will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
