Baseball Game Preview: Ida B. Wells Guardians vs. Franklin Quakers

For the second straight game, Ida B. Wells will face off against Franklin. The Guardians will welcome the Quakers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ida B. Wells has nine straight victories, Franklin has 13 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Ida B. Wells got the win against Franklin by a conclusive 24-4. The result was nothing new for the Guardians, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Cody Roletto was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Jackson Poole was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ida B. Wells kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive contests.

Ida B. Wells pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-21.
