Basketball Recap: Iycess Scott Key Part of a Team Effort in Warriors Win

Jenkins hadn't done well against Johnson recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Jenkins Warriors came out on top against the Johnson Atomsmashers by a score of 49-38. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jenkins to victory, but perhaps none more so than Iycess Scott, who posted seven points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Scott is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Taylor Young, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Jenkins smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Jenkins and bumps their season record up to 8-6. As for Johnson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Jenkins will head out to take on Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jenkins has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Johnson, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-31 loss against Liberty County on the 11th.
