Volleyball Recap: Carlsbad Takes a Loss

Carlsbad dropped to 4-13 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-match streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Clovis Wildcats by a score of 3-2. If the Cavemen/Cavegirls were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Clovis, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since September 13th.

Clovis' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brynn Petner, who had 17 digs and eight kills. Those 17 digs gave Petner a new career-high. Sophie Roberts was another key player, getting 16 digs, eight kills, and one block.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Carlsbad is set to square off against their familiar foe Roswell at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Clovis will take on rival Hobbs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
