Baseball Recap: Harlingen Drops Season-High Score on Edinburg

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Harlingen). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Edinburg Bobcats 9-7. The game was the first time the Cardinals have beaten the Bobcats on their field since May 8, 2021.

Isaiah Gaytan was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dominic Gonzales, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Gaytan wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Harlingen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win got Harlingen back to even at 8-8. As for Edinburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

Harlingen has already played their next game, an 8-3 victory against Raymondville on the 22nd. As for Edinburg, they will face off against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Edinburg's pitchers better be ready for this one: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo has averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
