Baseball Recap: Upper Merion Area Beats Pottstown for Their Third Straight Victory

While Upper Merion Area's victory against Pottstown wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 win over the Trojans on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 back in April.

John Tomsho was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Dylan Fowler was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Upper Merion Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Upper Merion Area, bringing their record up to 11-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pottstown, they dropped their record down to 3-15-1 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Looking ahead, Upper Merion Area will challenge Devon Prep at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Tide's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pottstown, they will square off against Schuylkill Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
