Softball Recap: Trico Victorious

While Trico's victory against Gibault Catholic wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pioneers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hawks 7-6. That's more bragging rights for the Pioneers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Trico is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Gibault Catholic, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trico will welcome Elverado at 4:30 p.m. on May 6. As for Gibault Catholic, they will be playing at home against Pinckneyville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
