Softball Recap: Duanesburg Has No Trouble Against Fort Plain

Duanesburg won the last time they faced Fort Plain and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Hilltoppers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Gabby DeLeon and Genevieve Rickert were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, DeLeon struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Rickert pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. At the plate, DeLeon scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Rickert scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave DeLeon a new career-high.

In other batting news, Duanesburg let Hailey Davis and Harlee Manus run wild. Davis scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4, while Manus scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave Manus a new career-high. Arianna Nicolella was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Duanesburg's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Fort Plain, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Duanesburg will square off against Schoharie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fort Plain, they will venture away from home to challenge Middleburgh at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
