Lakota Tech extends home losing streak to three

Recap: Lakota Tech Tatanka vs. Red Cloud Crusaders

The Lakota Tech Tatanka's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Red Cloud, falling 81-43. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lakota Tech in their matchups with Red Cloud: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, Lakota Tech saw an underclassman step up: Shania Ferguson scored 22 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ferguson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jordan Waln, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Leading Red Cloud to victory were Ashlan Carlow-Blount and Jodene Hunter. Carlow-Blount scored 17 points along with three steals and two blocks, while Hunter scored 26 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Carlow-Blount posted two or more blocks. Mya Mills was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Lakota Tech's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Red Cloud, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakota Tech will take on Hot Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hot Springs has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Red Cloud, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Custer at 6:00 p.m. Custer will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Red Cloud is ranked tenth).
