Baseball Recap: Hampton County Wins Going Away Against Whale Branch

While Hampton County put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Whale Branch. The Hurricanes were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Warriors. The Hurricanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by ten runs or more this season.

Josh Sparks tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Emerson Jarrell and Chris Terry did most of the damage at the plate: Jarrell scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Terry scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Terry is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Owen Shaffer was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Hampton County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Hampton County's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Whale Branch, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Hampton County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
