Softball Game Preview: Vintage Crushers vs. Vanden Vikings

The Vintage Crushers will venture away from home to challenge the Vanden Vikings at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday. Vanden took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Vintage, who comes in off a win.

While Crushers fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Thursday's season opener. Everything went their way against Vacaville on Thursday as Vintage made off with an 8-1 win.

Angie Rubalcava made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Rubalcava was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in home runs.

In other batting news, Audrey Manley was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Malina Viruet, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Vanden's offense. They lost 9-0 to Oak Ridge on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Vikings have suffered since April 19, 2024.

Vintage was able to grind out a solid victory over Vanden in their previous meeting back in March of 2019, winning 9-5. Does Vintage have another victory up their sleeve, or will Vanden turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
