Baseball Recap: Woodside Sets Scoring Season-High Against Heritage

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodside). They put the hurt on the Heritage Hurricanes with a sharp 21-7 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Cameron Moody was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Woodside is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-3 otherwise. Moody was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Connor Castillo was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. He has become a key player for Woodside: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-4 otherwise. Shaquan Patrick also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Woodside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .745. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Woodside's record now sits at 3-4. As for Heritage, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Woodside will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hurricanes: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
