Basketball Recap: Canyon Hills Comes Up Short

After flying high against Kearny last Tuesday, Canyon Hills came back down to earth. The Canyon Hills Rattlers took a 43-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the La Jolla Vikings. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rattlers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-52 back in January.

Leading La Jolla to victory were Brody Sessa and Leo Hawkinson. Sessa went 5 of 12 en route to 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Hawkinson posted ten points in addition to six assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was Carson Diehl, who put up four points and ten boards.

Canyon Hills' loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-14. As for La Jolla, their record now sits at 16-7.

Canyon Hills and La Jolla could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Canyon Hills will take on Point Loma at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday down 433 places (741 vs. 308). Meanwhile, La Jolla (ranked 409th) will meet Mira Mesa (ranked 144th) at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
