Basketball Recap: Bloomfield Takes a Loss

Bloomfield came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Homer Knights, falling 65-44. While losing is never fun, the Bees can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Knights are ranked 44th).

Despite the loss, Bloomfield still got an impressive performance from Madyson Mlady, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 15 boards. That was a full 40.9% of Bloomfield's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kora Poppe, who had 11 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Homer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexandra Albrecht, who earned 13 points and seven steals. Lilly Harris was another key player, going 7-for-13 on her way to 20 points and four steals.

Bloomfield's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Homer, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 20-1.

Bloomfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-47 defeat against Neligh-Oakdale on the 11th. As for Homer, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-59 victory against Bancroft-Rosalie on the 11th.
