Soccer Game Preview: Downers Grove North vs. Oswego East

The Downers Grove North Trojans will be taking part in a tournament against the Oswego East Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Downers Grove North fought the good fight in their overtime match against Glenbard West on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hilltoppers by a score of 3-2. It was the first time this season that Downers Grove North let down their fans at home.

Meanwhile, Oswego East came up short against Oswego on Tuesday, falling 5-2. While losing is never fun, Oswego East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Oswego are ranked 14th).

This is the second loss in a row for Downers Grove North and nudges their season record down to 3-5-4. As for Oswego East, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1-2 and their overall record down to 4-4-5.

Everything went Downers Grove North's way against Oswego East in their previous matchup back in April of 2015, as Downers Grove North made off with a 6-2 victory. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
