Basketball Game Preview: John Paul II Golden Warrriors vs. Hilton Head Christian Academy Eagles

John Paul II is 0-10 against Hilton Head Christian Academy since February of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The John Paul II Golden Warrriors are taking a road trip to take on the Hilton Head Christian Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. John Paul II is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season.

Last Friday, John Paul II ended up a good deal behind Trinity Collegiate and lost 63-45. While losing is never fun, the Golden Warrriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Titans are ranked ninth).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Hollis Melnick, who posted nine points and five rebounds. What's more, she also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Savannah Washington was another key player, going 5 for 8 on her way to 10 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Hilton Head Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 40-34 heartbreaker at the hands of Patrick Henry Academy.

Hilton Head Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for John Paul II, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3.

John Paul II suffered a grim 68-44 defeat to Hilton Head Christian Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can John Paul II avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
