Piute posted their closest win since September 25, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Monticello Buckaroo. For the Thunderbirds, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Buckaroo walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Piute wouldn't go down easily and took Monticello into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 13-25, 25-12, 25-11, 21-25, 15-13.

When it comes to explaining why Monticello lost, don't look at Madie Adair. Despite the final result, she had 31 digs.

Piute's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9. As for Monticello, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Piute will take on Water Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Thunderbirds are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Monticello, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Wayne on the 6th.
