Football Game Preview: David Crockett Pioneers vs. Knoxville Central Bobcats + Official Tickets

The David Crockett Pioneers will challenge the Knoxville Central Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, David Crockett put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cocke County 49-7. The victory continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Fighting Cocks: they've now won nine in a row.

Aj Wynn went supernova, rushing for 78 yards and three TDs on only seven carries, while also throwing for 115 yards and one touchdown on only nine passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (146.8).

Special teams also played a big role in the game for David Crockett, adding 19 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Wynn, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Knoxville Central slipped by Karns 31-30 on Friday. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Beavers are ranked 204th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Knoxville Central's win came from a few key players David Crockett will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kaden Long, who rushed for 114 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries, and also threw for 134 yards on 13 of 20 attempts. Jaedyn Harris was another key player, rushing for 113 yards and one touchdown.

David Crockett's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Knoxville Central, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

David Crockett came up short against Knoxville Central when the teams last played back in November of 2019, falling 24-14. Can the Pioneers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
