Basketball Recap: Marlboro Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Thomas Sumter Academy last Thursday, Marlboro Academy came back down to earth. The Marlboro Academy Dragons took a 63-45 bruising from the Florence Christian Eagles on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dragons of the 62-54 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

It was another big night for Taylor Greene, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten boards for Florence Christian. That makes it five consecutive games in which Greene has scored at least a third of Florence Christian's points. Riley Minton was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 11 points.

Marlboro Academy's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Florence Christian, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Marlboro Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lee Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Florence Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-49 defeat against Wilson Hall on the 20th.
