Basketball Recap: Lincoln Takes a Loss

Lincoln was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the San Diego Cavers. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 630th, while the Cavers are ranked 144th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Diego to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaiah Marte, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points and three steals. The contest was Marte's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Treyshawn Degrate, who went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points and five assists.

Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for San Diego, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Lincoln has already played their next match, a 67-37 loss against Christian on the 17th. As for San Diego, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 49-46 win against Bonita Vista on the 15th.
