Baseball Recap: Payson Longhorns vs. Thatcher Eagles
Payson proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 11) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Thatcher Eagles, sneaking past 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Longhorns have posted since February 28th.
Payson got a big performance out of Zach Young, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Evan Finkler, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Payson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory got Payson back to even at 13-13. As for Thatcher, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-13 record.
As of now, neither Payson nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
