Soccer Game Preview: Porter vs. Kingwood Park

The Porter Spartans will square off against the Kingwood Park Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Porter's last four matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Porter is headed into the contest without a loss and will look to keep things rolling. They and Splendora finished up their game with a 1-1 draw on Friday. That draw made it three straight for the Spartans.

Meanwhile, Kingwood Park entered their tilt with Dayton on Friday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Broncos. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Broncos are ranked 366th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kingwood Park pushed their record up to 11-1-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those seven matches. With that draw, Porter's record moves to 7-0-3.

Porter might still be hurting after the 6-1 defeat they got from Kingwood Park in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Porter was down 6-0.
