Softball Recap: Sherrard Wins Going Away Against Monmouth-Roseville

Sherrard never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on the Monmouth-Roseville Titans with a sharp 20-0 victory. Considering the Tigers have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Savanah Hauger made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Makenzy Moran and Nadia Anderson did most of the damage at the plate: Moran went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI, while Anderson went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Moran has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Makensie Westfall was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Sherrard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sherrard's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Monmouth-Roseville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

Sherrard has already played their next match, an 8-1 defeat against Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] on the 7th. Hopefully Monmouth-Roseville paid attention to the Tigers' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
