Softball Recap: Webber Comes Up Short

Webber was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 12-1 to the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Fighting Cardinals. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 18-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Webber saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Withrow, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Allie Smith also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Webber's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Webber will face off against Wayne City at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, they will head out to face off against Cobden at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Fighting Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Appleknockers have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
