Football Game Preview: Southern Nash Firebirds vs. Hunt Warriors

Southern Nash has gone 6-1 against Hunt recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Firebirds are taking a road trip to take on the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Southern Nash has given up an average of 30.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Southern Nash is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took down Southeast Alamance 58-39. The win was some much needed relief for the Firebirds as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Camron Lyons and Jaden Hartsfield. Lyons gained 150 total yards and three touchdowns while Hartsfield rushed for 123 yards and two scores on only 11 carries. Lyons also rushed for 107 rushing yards, which is notable because Southern Nash is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Battle, who threw for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Southern Nash was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 293 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 194 rushing yards in 14 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Southern Nash's defensive line and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Zion Odom and Taj Martin, who racked up five sacks between them.

Meanwhile, Hunt narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Eastern Alamance 30-28.

Southern Nash's record is now 7-4. As for Hunt, their record now sits at 9-2.

Southern Nash lost to Hunt on the road by a decisive 51-34 margin in their previous meeting back in October. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Warriors' Mez Harris, who rushed for 98 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries, and also threw for 125 yards on only ten passes.
