St. Raphael Academy had won seven straight at home, but on Sunday they bumped their record up to 11-2 to make it eight. They skirted past the Cranston West Falcons 2-1. For the Saints, this counts as revenge for the 4-2 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Isabella Sousa made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over eight innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Sousa wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sophie Roman, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

As for Cranston West, they moved to 11-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Cranston West's side, Mia Crudale spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Raphael Academy will welcome Scituate at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Cranston West, they will be playing at home against Pilgrim at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 3.2, the Patriots 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
