Baseball Game Preview: Riverview Pirates vs. Flat Rock Rams

The Riverview Pirates will challenge the Flat Rock Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Riverview will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Riverview is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over Jefferson on Monday.

Evan Minnick and Miguel Colon did most of the damage at the plate: Minnick went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Colon went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave Colon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Collins, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Riverview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Flat Rock waltzed into their matchup on Monday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Big Reds.

Mikey Giroux made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Giroux wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landon Dwyer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Flat Rock's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Riverview, their victory bumped their record up to 6-18.
