Basketball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Central Valley's Winning Streak

It was fun while it lasted, but Central Valley's undefeated season came to an end after seven games on Friday. Their2024 ended with a 50-34 defeat against the Gateway Gators. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Central Valley fell to 7-1. As for Gateway, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-3.

Central Valley will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hopewell at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Gateway, they and Greater Johnstown will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Greater Johnstown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Gateway likes a good challenge.
