Football Recap: Southwestern Heights Mustangs vs. Cimarron Bluejays

A win for Southwestern Heights just wasn't in the cards on Friday as the team wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They were dealt a 51-6 defeat at the hands of the Cimarron Bluejays. The Mustangs just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Even though they lost, Southwestern Heights was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 217 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.

Leading Cimarron to victory were Trace Kopper and McCoy Nash. Kopper rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, while Nash rushed for 171 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. Kopper also passed for three passing touchdowns, which is notable because Cimarron is 2-1 when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 0-4 otherwise. Coulter Dohrmann was another key player, picking up 112 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Southwestern Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Cimarron, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5.

Southwestern Heights will challenge Holcomb at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Holcomb is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 27.3 points per game this season. As for Cimarron, they will face off against Hoisington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
