Volleyball Game Preview: Legacy Lions vs. Viera Hawks

The Legacy Lions will square off against the Viera Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Legacy will be strutting in after a win while Viera will be coming in after a loss.

It was a proper cat-fight when Legacy took on Port St. Lucie on Tuesday. The Lions put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 3-0 victory.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Legacy was: they took every set by at least 16 points. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-5, 25-9.

Legacy relied on the efforts of Meredith Prince, who had nine aces and four digs, and Paisley Woods, who had five digs and three aces. Prince is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last 12 games she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Legacy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in nine consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Viera lost 3-0 to Merritt Island on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost five in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-18, 25-18.

Viera's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Legacy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
