Baseball Recap: Ozaukee Takes a Loss

Ozaukee came into this matchup off a tough 11-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Dominican Knights by a score of 11-9 on Saturday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Mason Schroeder put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Schroeder was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Ozaukee: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jackson Szydel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Stryker Bartels was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Ozaukee and nudges their season record down to 5-7. As for Dominican, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season.

Ozaukee will head out on the road to square off against Kohler at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Bombers have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Dominican, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Catholic Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hilltoppers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.5 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
