Softball Game Preview: Santiago Sharks vs. Esperanza Aztecs

The Santiago Sharks will head out to square off against the Esperanza Aztecs at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Santiago has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Santiago took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past El Dorado 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Golden Hawks: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Esperanza never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Villa Park with a sharp 8-0 victory.

Not much got past Charley Duran, who gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Villa Park off the board.

On the hitting side, Tayloran Sicard was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Emma Gribben, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Santiago picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Esperanza, their record now sits at 3-4.

Santiago might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Esperanza when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Santiago avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
