After losing to Early the last time they met, Galena decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Bears put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 7-1 win on Friday. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Cody Jones was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Galena's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-2 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Blake Wall, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Galena pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Early, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Looking ahead, Galena will head out on the road to square off against Fordland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Early, they will be playing at home against Crane at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
