Softball Recap: West Has No Trouble Against Bearden

West's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Bearden Bulldogs. That looming 8-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rebels yet this season.

Brooke Weaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Claire Davenport was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joli Bush, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

West hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive games.

West's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Bearden, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West will venture away from home to face off against Oak Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bearden, they will head out to square off against William Blount at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
