Newington posted their closest win since May 13, 2024 on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Lewis Mills Spartans. That's more bragging rights for the Nor'easters, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Abigail Greaves was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Greaves was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs.

In other batting news, Peyton Stegmaier was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maiya Simpson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Lewis Mills, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Newington will be playing at home against Simsbury at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lewis Mills, they will square off against Platt at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
