Baseball Game Preview: Frankston Indians vs. Avalon Eagles

The Frankston Indians will square off against the Avalon Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Frankston is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.

Frankston's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Union Hill with a sharp 17-0 win. Considering the Indians have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Avalon). They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Meridian on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Rayden Mendez made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Avalon is 4-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Mendez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Avalon got a massive performance out of John De La Garza, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Kade Johnson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Frankston's win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Avalon, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Frankston beat Avalon 4-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
