Softball Recap: Gardena Panthers vs. Banning Pilots
Gardena had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-7 to make it 11. They lost 18-0 to the Banning Pilots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pilots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-0 back in March.
As for Banning, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-14. The result was nothing new for the Pilots, who have now won seven contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
For Banning's part, they got a massive performance out of Kourtney Talanoa, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Talanoa has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Joliene Pina, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Gardena will host Rancho Dominguez at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Lobos at the right time seeing as the Lobos are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Banning, they will venture away from home to square off against Narbonne at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Gauchos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something the Pilots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
