Softball Preview: Cascade Bruins vs. Shorecrest Scots

The Cascade Bruins will head out on the road to challenge the Shorecrest Scots at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cascade will be strutting in after a win while Shorecrest will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Monday, Cascade was able to grind out a solid victory over Mountlake Terrace, taking the game 7-2. The win was just what Cascade needed coming off of a 10-0 loss in their prior matchup.

Mia Walker spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on zero hits.

On the hitting side, Cascade let Jaidyn Wilson and Kodie Rasmussen loose on the outfield. Wilson went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and two RBI, while Rasmussen scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Cienna Cannon, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Shorecrest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell just short of Shorewood by a score of 9-8.

Cascade is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Shorecrest, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Cascade took their victory against Shorecrest when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cascade since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
